Audience Feedback (continued)

I then uploaded my finished products to Facebook and asked my peers to answer the same questions and add any comments about my final product. Here are a few examples of what was said:

I then also got some feedback via an interview:

Audience Feedback

I conducted a questionnaire and gave it out to fans of rock music and those who don't. I did this to see if it appeals to my target audience and to see if it stands out to people who do not regularly listen to rock music.

Production- Screengrabs.

I took screengrabs of my work in progress to show how it develops.

Questionnaire

The easiest way to conduct audience research is by producing a questionnaire. I construced my questions carefully, ensuring I asked a variety of questions that would help me make decisions about the design, content, price and frequency of publication.

Reseaching The Market Place

I have researched competitors for Rock magazine, and this is the information I found.

Initial Ideas.

INITIAL IDEAS:
You need to make decisions about:
  • The they pf music magazine you are going to produce
  • The target audience

I have decided that 'Rock' will be the genre of my music magaizine. This is becasue this genre of music is my faviourte and I belive i have enough knowledge to produce a magazine front cover, contents page and double page spread.
Target Audience: It will be aimed at males and females who like rock music.

Production of Magazine Front Cover and Contents Page.

PRODUCTION OF SCHOOL MAGAZINE FRONT COVER:

Use Adobe Photoshop to create your new school magazine front cover, following your rough sketch.

This is my final product for my new school magazine front cover. It differs from my rouch sketch as in my rough sketch, I placed the price of the magazine in the top right hand corner in a bubble, however on my final design I did not end up including a price, and this is where I went wrong as this does not follow the codes and conventions of a magazine front cover. I also changed the font of the title. I decided that the font I used for my final product was more school-like and presentable for a school magazine, rather than block bubble writing.  My rough sketch had my main coverline all in capitals and going on to two lines and in my final product only one main word is in capitals and it stays on one line. This is because I didnt want it to be too big to take attraction away form the title of the magazine.

PRODUCTION OF SCHOOL MAGAZINE CONTENTS PAGE:

This is my final design of my new school magazine contents page. It is very simelar to my rough sketch as I only changed one thing. It was not possible for me to take a picture of an "ON AIR" sign found in radio and tv studios as our school deos not have one, therefore I took a picture of our Ice-Radio tech equipment. This is still assosiated with the article on my contents page.

Photographs for School Magazine.

This is evidence of all the images I took for my new school magazine. As I did not manipulate them, the majority that were used for my final piece are as they are shown.

I did not use this image because I felt it was too close the object itself.

I used this image as it was not as close as the other version of this image.

I used this image in my contents page.

I did not use this image as I chose another image that assosiated around that article.

I used this image for my front cover as the model is giving direct audience address and this follows the codes and conventions of a magazine front cover.
Eventhough this is a clearer image than the one I used for my final design, the model is not giving direct audience address, and as this does not follow codes and conventions I could not use it.

I used this image as it relates to one of my coverlines in my magazine.

Planning Content

PLANNING CONTENT:

You need to come up with:
  • A list of the regular content which will appear in your new school magazine
  • A list of at least 10 feature articles which will appear in your magazine
  • A list of the images which you will use on your contents page

Plans For New School Magazine Cover.

PLANS FOR FRONT COVER:

You need to come up with:
  • Title for your new school amagazine
  • Details of the mise-en-scene of your front cover image
  • Coverlines for the front cover of your magazine
Title: Learn
To come up with a title for my new school magazine, I produced a mind map of different things/words I would asossiate with school. Finally, I decided that 'LEARN' would be the title for my new school magazine. I thought that this was simple and straight to the point.
I then went on to create coverlines. I created these before the mise-en-scene as I knew I could then revolve my main image on my main coverline. I came up with 4 specific coverlines that would be on my front cover, that then would be repeated in my contents page; 'Philosophy and Ethics, Not and option', 'Want to rule the school?' 'ON AIR' and I decided that my main headline would be 'Weatherhead goes worldwide.'
After deciding that 'Weatherhead goes worldwide' would be my main headline, I based my front cover image around that. I decided that the world maps on the wall of the school breakout areas would be a good connection to my main headline, resulting in that being the mise-en-scene of my front cover image.
